I have service pack 2 right now and I am skeptical of any changes after what I went through with Internet Explorer 7.
I went back to 6.

Yeah, you should update to SP3. I updated all of my XP systems and it went without a hitch. There are a lot of stuff that improves the stability of XP, as well as internal features which increases the usability of this OS, as well as aids it in being more compatible with mixed networks with both XP and Vista, networking upgrades: for instance, full WPA2 encryption, Connect Now full functionality, etc. It is well worthwhile to risk the low possibility of something going wrong. You can always turn back the clock if need be and try again.

Now, I don’t know when you upgraded from IE6 to IE7, but IE7 is far better than IE6. The features alone are well worth trying to upgrade again. If it has been a while since you upgraded and then went back to IE6 you should consider giving it another attempt. The functionality of IE7 over IE6 is great. Plus, IE8 is coming really soon, and the shock of going from IE6 to IE8 will be much more serious! lol There are a lot of improvements over the period since it was first released and then rather forced on us as an Automatic Update, though we were given the ability to suppress it if we wished.

But, yes, apply SP3 to XP. It is the last SP to be offered for XP, and it truly helps with stability, and many other hidden features.
